1- How does is it act?
The dynamic face wrinkles, that is to say those that are marked due to certain gestures of our face, like forehead or glabella, are produced by the muscle movement that there are underneath them. Vistabel is injected into those muscles, and blocks the electrical impulse that arrives to them and it debilitates it. The muscles relax and the wrinkles are at first attenuated and after a variable time, between 4 and 10 days, they nearly disappear.

2- Then, the result is not immediate?
No. The result appears gradually with running of the days, which turns out to be an advantage for the patient, since nobody will suddenly notice that a face aesthetic treatment has taken place. Patient’s aspect will improve gradually, and one day, people that habitually sees him will tell him he looks better, "more good looking”, without knowing why.

3- What wrinkles can mainly be treated with Vistabel or Botox ®?
Wrinkles around forehead, glabella and the ones called crow’s feet.

4- How long does the effect of Botox ® last?
The complete effect of Botox ® Cosmetic is obtained between 4 and 8 days after the injection. Sometimes it may take up to 2 weeks. This effect lasts approximately three months and a half, and up to 4. At this point the patient can have the treatment repeated, this time the effect will surely be more lasting than the firs time. The effect of the treatment is variable and depends on the patient; in some patients the effect may persist up to five or six months.

5- Is the treatment reversible?
Yes. The muscular blockade that carries out the product lasts a certain time, and after 3 or 4 months, the treated muscle recovers its mobility and therefore, the lines of wrinkles generated by their movement will appear.

6- Is the treatment always effective?
Nearly always, except in some few cases in which adjustments need to be carried out within the first 30 days.

7- How often can I have Botox ® injected?
The treatment can be repeated every 4, 5 or six months, according to the patient needs. There are sufficient clinical trials and publications in medical Literature that guarantee this affirmation.

8- Is the treatment painful?
No pain. An amount of significantly little liquid is applied underneath the skin in the corresponding muscle using extremely fine needle. The patient may feel a small annoyance at the moment, as a smooth irritation. There is no pain.

9- How long does the treatment take?
Approximately five to ten minutes.

10- Is it necessary to rest after treatment?
No. It is possible to return immediately to the usual tasks, social work, appointments, etc. Some patients have the treatment perfomed during lunch time, and have time left to have lunch before returning to their work.

11- Which precautions must I have after the application of Botox ®?
Few precautions need to be taken after the application of Botox ®, during the first 4 hours after the treatment:

• Avoid rubbing your face when washing it, by simply throwing water on it.
• Avoid lying down.
• Avoid touching the eyes or the forehead (according to the treated area) in order to prevent that the injected medicine spreads towards unwished areas

12- Which preparation is required before the treatment?
No preparation is needed before the treatment, although it is recommended to avoid aspirin intakes during the week before the application. In the previous consultation, the doctor will give you the instructions applicable to your case.

13- What about Botox ® and pregnancy ?
All medications are contraindicated in pregnancy, including Botox ®.

14- Which professionals are allowed to treat me with Botox ®?
Doctors in medicine, properly trained in this technique. Generally a professional dedicated to the aesthetic medicine: specialist in aesthetic medicine or plastic surgeon.

15- Where is the treatment performed?
It is performed at the doctor’s practice, following all the regulations for sterilization, hygiene and disinfection of the skin, always using disposable medical equipment. Surgery room is not needed, since this is not a surgical technique, but a medical one.
